The District Attorney’s Office in the Western Judicial Circuit has an opening for an Assistant District Attorney. The following duties are normal for this position; other duties may be required and assigned: • Reviews reports [...]Accountability courts are an alternative to incarceration that has been proven successful for many of the individual participants with ripele effects throughout the community. I've been a supporter since the beginning and look forward to working with the judges and the accountability court staff to enhance, improve, and expand access to these programs. One of the benefits is that the DA's office often dismisses charges once the program is successfully completed. Yesterday I attended the 52nd Western Judicial Circuit Felony Drug Court Felony Drug Court - 6 outstanding individuals who have surmounted incredible odds. I was so honored to be able to give the dismissal of charges papers to Nikos - one of the graduates who I had met at a PLR - People Living in Recovery event with my friend and colleague Shane Sims. Nikos is the first one I have handed those papers to and I look forward to doing so again and again. People deserve second chances because we all make mistakes and we are "better than the last mistake we made" (Bryan Stevenson).
